AFP to PostScript Functionality

Toronto, Ontario, September 30, 2002 -Crawford Technologies Inc. today introduced their newest transformation product, PRO AFP to PS. This conversion process provides a smooth migration path for AFP printer clients who want to move their applications to PostScript printers without making costly application and architecture changes.

Crawford Technologies is providing a way for many organizations to integrate Advanced Function Printing AFPDS formats with PostScript Page Description Language printing applications by transforming them using the PRO AFP to PS product. Printing facilities no longer have to designate specific printers for data format applications of AFP or PostScript. Instead, they can simply transform the print stream to the desired output format and route the data to a common printer.

One of the keys to the success of PRO AFP to PS is its superior font mapping and fidelity. AFP printer fonts can be mapped to selected PostScript fonts. PRO AFP to PS has the flexibility to map fonts to either standard PostScript or embedded Type 1 fonts. AFP forms, including color, are converted. Images are converted to compressed PostScript images embedded in the output file. The PRO AFP to PS product optimizes the PostScript creating small and compact PostScript files that can quickly be routed to a printer permitting rated speeds of operation.
