    Metacode and LCDS to PostScript Conversion
    PRO Meta to PS

    Crawford Technologies is providing a way for many organizations to integrate Xerox LCDS and Metacode formats with PostScript printing by transforming them using PRO Meta to PS format. This conversion process provides a smooth migration path for Xerox printer clients who want to move their applications to PostScript printers without making costly application and architecture changes.

    One of the keys to the success of PRO Meta to PS is its superior font mapping and fidelity. Xerox printer fonts can be mapped to selected PostScript fonts. The same font mapping rules apply to encrypted Xerox fonts. PRO Meta to PS has the flexibility to map fonts to either standard PostScript or embedded Type 1 fonts. Xerox forms, including color, are converted to page segments, and IMG. Images are converted to compressed PostScript images embedded in the output file.

    The PRO Meta to PS product optimizes the PostScript creating small and compact PostScript files that can quickly be routed to a printer permitting rated speed of operation. Both Xerox LCDS and Metacode, including DJDE, formats are converted. Further, PRO Meta to PS supports all of the Xerox centralized printer capabilities, including stapling, paper tray mapping, highlight color mapping, multiple color printing, tumble, duplex or simplex printing. All paper sizes of Legal, A4 and custom are also supported.

    With PRO Meta to PS, any data in the print file can be used as Bookmarks and automatically organized into multiple levels, for easy navigation. Index rules can be set up, allowing indexing on multiple criteria.
