PRO Splitter

PRO Splitter supports very fast and precise splitting (bursting) of large output files into numerous "subdocument" files, based on the data in print files, the required file size, the number of pages/sheets or individual statements, or on the intended users. This capability can be used for:

• Separating reports
• Splitting reports
• Creating individual statement files for customers
• Splitting large print files into agent or broker sections
• Breaking large print files into smaller segments
• Predefining file size in bytes, pages/sheets or subdocuments

The Batcher component of PRO Splitter allows the users to group multiple files in order to meet specific limitations in the number of concurrent output files, available storage space or the limitations of post processors.

The following are a few examples of how our customers are applying the power of PRO Splitter:

• Intelligent splitting of a single large print file into smaller output files for distribution to multiple printers to maximize equipment utilization or to reduce print windows
• Intelligent splitting of large print files into individual documents, such as PDFs, for presentment on the web or for archival storage
• Batching groups of individual files to fit on a CD-ROM/DVD in a mastering application
• Batching of files to fit the intake size constrains of ECM import utilities, such as Filenet's MRII and HPII

There are several different methods of splitting print files, including the following:

• Triggers in the print stream determine where to break the document
• Field value changes can trigger breaks
• Print stream related triggers, like Xerox Report Stack indicators and AFP Begin Document Structured fields, can be used to delimit sub-documents for splitting purposes

PRO Splitter can be plugged into any of the PRO suite of transform products. Only one pass at a print stream is required to transform and split the file. This means that clients will save a significant amount of time in addition to simplifying their operational procedures.

PRO Splitter, in conjunction with an appropriate PRO transform, can be used to split any industry print stream file, including AFP, Xerox LCDS and metacode, PostScript, PDF, PCL, TIFF and HTML.

If the user only needs to split a file, and not transform it, then PRO Splitter can be used in any of the PRO Normalization products to simply split the print file and keep the resulting file in the same format.
