Overview
PRO Meta to IMAGE dynamically converts Xerox LCDS and Metacode (including DJDE) documents to TIFF or PNG formats.
TIFF is the format of choice for archiving business documents as images and it is used in many Enterprise
Content Management implementations. Other imaging formats can only handle single page files, which are then very difficult to reassemble into multi page documents. TIFF offers an important
advantage: it can hold either single or multiple pages in one file.
Using the built-in PRO Splitter, organizations can easily create TIFF files containing complete customer statements,
bills, invoices, policies, and other important documents.
PRO Meta to Image provides a smooth migration path for those Xerox printer customers who want to
utilize their legacy Xerox applications in Enterprise Content Management (ECM) systems, without making costly architecture
changes. Whether organizations want to archive and retrieve their Xerox documents or to make them available to both staff and
customers in an interactive mode, PRO Meta to Image is the key enabler: it provides high-fidelity images of the
business data, indexed, and, if need be, enhanced or restructured.
PRO Meta to Image can also be used by interactive applications to convert Xerox legacy documents
dynamically at display or retrieval time. The high-speed performance of PRO Meta to Image permits this dynamic
conversion. This can save significant data storage costs and eliminate expensive batch transformation processing.

Archive, Retrieve and Use Documents of Outstanding Fidelity
The converted TIFF and PNG images are perfect representations of the original legacy files. All Xerox fonts,
formss and other resources are reproduced exactly as they are on a Xerox printer. With your printer files in the widely accepted TIFF
format, you can easily store your legacy Xerox LCDS and Metacode documents in ECM systems, making your data secure and easily
retrievable.

Unlike other imaging formats, TIFF files can handle single or multi page files. To store multi page customer statements
or invoices, use the built-in PRO Splitter to split the printer file during conversion into separate multi page statements
or invoices. PRO Meta to Image will then create one TIFF image for each individual complete document.
This will allow you to easily archive and retrieve data on
individual customers or transactions without the need to modify the
application that creates the original print file.

The optional PRO Indexer plug-in can extract text for separate archival, create index files, XML files, or
database commands, mark document breakpoints and generate image names using the contents of the original documents, such as account
number, customer name or statement date. This can greatly simplify the process of managing the converted files and bring financial
savings.
Enhance Documents Without Paying for New/Changed Print Applications
During the conversion pass, the optional PRO Document Enhancer can reengineer the converted documents
to meet most any change requirements. Pages, text fields, form fields, hyperlinks, bar codes and OMR marks can be added, changed
or suppressed, eliminating the need for costly reprogramming of the original print applications.

PRO Meta to Image is based on PRO Meta interpreter that supports all of the Xerox centralized printer capabilities including:

PRO Meta to Image converts Xerox LCDS and Metacode, including DJDE, documents into TIFF dynamically. The
generated TIFF images are monochrome bitmaps, with adjustable raster resolution.
PRO Meta to Image can create single page files or multi page files. The latter are capable of holding extended information
on an individual customer or transaction or an entire print file.
Font Handling
PRO Meta to Imagegenerates perfect representations of the original Xerox fonts, forms and other resources.
Output Format
PRO Meta to Image contains a device driver that creates TIFF or PNG output files. These files can be printed on any printer.
Transform Control Options
PRO Meta to Image allows you to set the raster resolution (default 300 DPI). The output TIFF can also be optimized through a
number of run-time options.
Splitting Documents
The built-in PRO Splitter plug-in allows you to split the printer file into multi page TIFF images, containing complete
information on a particular topic, for instance an invoice.
Indexing
The optional PRO Indexer plug-in allows you to select and extract pertinent data from within the print stream,
while a document is being processed. The Index files can be generated in a variety of formats. You can:
- Define any number of index keys to be extracted
- Select fields and define how they will be manipulated before being written to the index file or XTML file
- Mark breakpoints for individual subdocuments
- After selection, use PRO Indexer to "scrape" all or selected fields of text and place it in an index file or text file
- Set up names for image files created by PRO Meta based on the contents of the original document, for instance
customer names or account numbers. This would allow you to archive the output files in databases and later call them up for display or printing
Enhancing Documents
The optional PRO Document Enhancer, a powerful reengineering tool,allows you to manipulate fields to
easily create modified, customized and enhanced documents without having to consume IT resources to make complex programming changes
to business applications. Modifications that can be made to print applications include:
- Adding text fields, OMR marks, barcodes or images to pages
- Suppressing OMR marks, barcodes and text fields
- Moving information around on the page
- Changing fonts for text fields
- Repaginating multiple-up print files to 1-UP
- Inserting new pages
- Adding marketing messages
Audit Log
The Audit Log option allows you to log the details of the file conversion
process, including the contents of the input file. You can define what to log, for instance fields from the print data, such as
account numbers, policy numbers, invoice numbers, customer names and other useful tracking information.
Statistics Log
The Statistics Log feature allows you to log statistical information on the file conversion process. This
includes a log of the parameters used, number of pages processed, conversion time, conversion speed, resources used and other
information about the transform.
