Accessibility Express allows your original documents to be accessible to everyone. The electronic documents can be created in Accessible PDF so anyone getting their documents online can read them. Your paper documents can be read by anyone using their smartphone with the Voiceye app. Not only does this put you in compliance, but your customers will not have to make special requests for accommodation or for specific formats. Your Accessibility Professionals only need to set up the MasterOne tagging rules once in the included PRO Designer interface. Then all your paper and electronic versions of that document can be accessible to everyone.
Resource Integrated Supports Alternate Formats
Resource Integrated, a company that provides design, print, and data driven communications as well as logistics and distribution services, needed to create accessible documents in multiple formats for a large telecom client. In order to be in compliance with current regulations, contractual communications in the requested format had to be delivered within 72 hours of a customer sign-up. Resource Integrated works with CrawfordTech’s Secure Document Accessibility Services Bureau to automate the conversion from PDF format to accessible document formats like braille, large print, eText and Audio, allowing them to deliver communications to their client on-time.
The Accessible PDF output from Accessibility Express can be WCAG 2.0 compliant, and can also be output in Accessible PDF/UA format. It can work with normal PDF files, or print files in virtually any format and, using tagging rules, convert it to the Accessible PDF format that you need. This can be done before documents are stored in your repository, on it can be done dynamically when the documents are being retrieved for viewing.
The Voiceye support within Accessibility Express allows you to place a special barcode on your documents containing the document’s content in an accessible format. A user can then read that barcode with a free downloadable smartphone app, and have access to the information using the accessibility features of the phone. This is a straightforward method of making all your printed documents accessible to everyone.
Multiple Formats for Different Requirements
Accessibility Express takes it even a step further. Realizing that Accessible PDF and Voiceye may not handle 100% of your customers’ requirements, Accessibility Express documents can be easily output in any of the traditional ”alternate formats” using a standardized process based on the Accessibility Express tagging rules.
One of the most time-consuming tasks when providing accessible documents is the setup - tagging documents to create each accessible format. Some organizations pay for this up to 5 times for each document - once for each of Accessible PDF, Braille, Large Print, eText and Audio formats. With Accessibility Express, you only need to create one setup for each document type to support all of the different formats. And you do the tagging, including defining the logical read order, with a GUI application that is easy to use and optimized for customer communications documents.
Accessibility Express is powerful and flexible. It accepts PDF files and print stream formats (AFP, PostScript, PCL, and Xerox Metacode) so there’s no need to recompose output or go back to originating applications. The solution includes tools to enhance productivity, supports batch and interactive processing, and has many workflow and integration options available that its components can be plugged into.
Output of traditional alternate formats such as audio or braille can be handled by CrawfordTech’s Canadian and U.S. Document Accessibility Services centers, or by any certified MasterONE service center.
