Q: What will happen to ASR?

This agreement between CrawfordTech and EMC will provide existing users of ASR an alternative to remaining on the ASR Version 2.5 safe-harbor release.
The future of ASR at EMC will be announced by EMC. Please contact a representative at EMC for more information.
Q: What is new in PRO Archiver 2.6
A:
NEW - Added the new 'Store in Documentum Express' plug-in. This plug-in provides for the ability to store content in the Documentum High Volume Server (HVS). HVS is an extension of Documentum that provides for significantly higher content object counts than standard Documentum. HVS also provides an improved ingestion API that includes blocking and scoping. By leveraging this new API, the Documentum Express Plug-in is able to improve ingestion performance into Documentum
NEW - A new bursting model called 'pre-burst'. PRO Archiver retains the existing support for full-burst, no-burst, and section bursting. However, PRO Archiver 2.6 also includes the new pre-burst model that allows the content to be burst at the time of transformation. For those users that currently use section burst or full burst, this provides significantly improved performance over the previous architecture. With pre-burst, the PDF files are burst at the same times as they are created; eliminating the need to reprocess the PDF file before storing in the repository.
NEW - Adds support for native file type archiving. Up until now, ASR has only been able to archive PDF documents. With this addition to the product, PRO Archiver will be able to archive files of any type provided they are already indexed. This is a powerful tool that can be used to migrate from one repository to another. Once the content and the metadata have been extracted from the legacy repository, PRO Archiver can accept the metadata in XML format, and the content in its native format, and store that content into Documentum or Documentum HVS.
Q. What is CrawfordTech doing to advance the PRO Archiver product?

This division is lead by Jim Perkins, the former manager at EMC responsible for strategic planning and direction for ASR. Additionally, Crawford Tech has staffed this division with former EMC ASR development and support staff with a combined 20 years of experience with EMC ASR.
